Summer Sundays Concert Series in Pell Gardens
Picture the scene: A beautiful garden venue with a stunning waterfront backdrop. A warm summer breeze as talented musicians perform live for an audience that can't resist tapping their toes or getting up to dance. If this describes your idea of a care-free summer evening, then you'll want to check out the Summer Sundays Concert Series at Chesapeake City's Pell Gardens.
Each summer, the Chesapeake City District Civic Association presents live music – from bluegrass to jazz to rock 'n' roll – every Sunday evening in July and August from 6-8 p.m. Bands perform on the bandshell stage at Pell Gardens. Situated right along the edge of the C&D Canal, you can watch ships from around the world sail past as you enjoy live entertainment – all while the sun begins its colorful descent. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and see why Summer Sundays have been a popular tradition in Chesapeake City for close to two decades.
There will be nine concerts this summer featuring music of all genres. The series kicks off on July 3 with the Summit Hill Bluegrass band. Additional July performances include Charlie Hitman on July 10, Eastern Elk on July 17, Pearl Street Jazz on July 24, and Shane Palko Music on July 31. In August, check out Take 2 Trio on Aug. 7, Dublin 5 on Aug. 14, Acoustic Turnpike on Aug. 21, and Club Phred rockin' it out on Aug. 28.
Local businesses also get in on the Summer Sundays fun with extended hours and specials, so be sure to stroll down Bohemia Avenue before and after each concert. Stop in at our Rummur Lounge for a rum cocktail and a snack before the show. Afterward, have a late dinner at Bayard House or maybe just dessert at Canal Creamery and Sweets. Then retire to your relaxing home away from home here at the historic Inn at the Canal to conclude a perfect summer day.
