National Revolutionary War Reenactment at Mount Harmon
One of Maryland’s most historic homes, Mount Harmon Plantation, is hosting a national Revolutionary War Reenactment Festival this September. The restored tobacco plantation dates back to 1651 and offers guided tours of the 1730 manor house; self-guided tours of the nature trails are also open. At the festival, tour the encampments of the British and the rebels, shop at the colonial market faire, go on a manor tour, and savor the tastes of food and beverage merchants.
More than a thousand re-enactors will bring the history of America’s earliest days to life. Military buffs will enjoy the skirmishes and battles throughout the day as well as tactical demonstrations and drills. The setting couldn’t be any better either, considering that the British have already occupied Cecil County, Maryland during the Revolutionary War; and the plantation home was already more than 50 years old at that point! The estate features a colonial kitchen, smoke house, boxwood garden, rare prize house, tobacco barn, nature trails, rare flora, and antique furnishings restored to reflect its colonial period. Visit the website to learn more about Mount Harmon.
The Revolutionary War Reenactment Festival at Mount Harmon plantation will be held September 15th and 16th; Saturday 10am-4pm, Sunday 10am-3pm. Click here for more information on the event.
