Cherry Picking at Milburn Orchards
One of the most delicious things about summer is the abundance of farm-fresh fruits and vegetables that will soon be ripe and ready for harvesting. Agriculture is Maryland's top industry, making our roadside produce stands, farmers markets and local orchards great places to get a mouth-watering taste of nature's bounty. Skip the grocery store and head to Milburn Orchards in Elkton, where you can pick your own fruit right from the tree. There's nothing sweeter!
Family owned and operated since 1902, Milburn Orchards is more than just a family farm. It's a leader in agri-tourism and a destination for customers from all over looking for a unique farm experience. There's a farm market and bake shop, plus a family-friendly big backyard. To get a real hands-on orchard experience, check out their U-Pick Adventures.
The first fruit for picking will be cherries in mid-June. Tart, sour cherries make great tasting pies, while pitted dark and light sweet cherries are a delicious topping on a big bowl of ice cream. Pre-registration is required to pick cherries. Picking containers are provided, and comfortable shoes or boots are recommended to wear into the orchards. Other u-pick adventures include blueberries, blackberries, peaches, raspberries, grapes and apples – all offered at the peak of flavor and nutrition.
There's nothing quite as tasty as picking your favorite fresh fruit straight from the tree and immediately enjoying the fruits of your labor. When visiting Milburn Orchards, take a moment to appreciate the breathtaking views of the orchards and the home-grown experience that will only bring you closer to nature and all that Maryland's Eastern Shore has to offer.
